    Pleasing example of this fairly elusive coin.
    With a mintage of a mere 12,000 pieces, the 1883-CC gold eagle is very rare today, especially in high grade. It seems most examples went directly into circulation as evidenced by the pieces seen by PCGS and NGC, which range from Fine to only lower end mint state coins.
    Estimated survival of about 280-285 coins.
