An absolutely gorgeous 1901 liberty head eagle gold piece graded MS 63 by NGC. It carries a fantastic strike among both sides with what looks like clearly proof-like surfaces when this coin is being tilted in the light. This gorgeous coin has been housed in an older style NGC 'Fatty Holder' and we believe it is at least one point under-graded. It has been approved by CAC for quality. The photos unfortunately do not give this coin justice.
This Philadelphia Mint date holds a total mintage of 1,718,740. Of this mintage, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 87,500 have survived in all grades today. It is one of only 3,857 graded Mint State 63 by NGC. It is also one of only 131 approved by CAC for quality in this grade level.
