1940 S Jefferson Nickel - High Grade Circulated with die crack

Description

1940 S Jefferson Nickel - Circulated. There were 39.7 Million made at the San Francisco mint in 1940: a common, pre-war coin.  A very interesting coin with a manufacturing defect.  There is a die crack (a raised line on the coin) that runs from the top to bottom of the reverse.  It can be seen in the B of Pluribus going down to the top of the dome.  From there it moves right.  It can be seen between the third and fourth columns of the portico.  It continues through the steps, the E in Monticello, the N in Cents and the O in Of.
This is a high grade coin with little wear and much fine detail.  There is some mint luster present; although the original planchet has some rough finish to it.  There are at least four steps visible on Monticello.  In my opinion, it grades as an AU. Please see the photos.
