NGC MS63 5FS PL
Brilliant and beautifully mirrored fields over each fully Prooflike side. Very clean for an MS63. This is an early die state, with fresh engraving of the designs, hard, smooth mirrors that have only just begun to show stress lines, and some very interesting lathe lines circling the obverse peripheries. A scarce example of an early die state of the Prooflikes of 1934-1955, about which we have written extensively. As for this issue, just 3 PL 1942-S nickels, across all grades, have made the FS designation at NGC. Very rare, nice for the grade, and a great opportunity, all around.
