    Description

    African Hand Carved Soapstone Vase With Etched Fish.  From my research this vase is hand carved from soapstone in Kenya. Unfortunately there were no lables when I bought it for proof, but it does appear to be what I described. You can see the uneven texture of the inside where it was carved as well.
    The vase is etched with scenes of fish, leaves, and vines. It is a lovely vase and is heavy, weighing about 3 lbs. 14 oz. It stands approximately 9 3/4" tall and is 4 1/2" at the widest point.
    It is in good condition, but I believe there are a couple of scratches near the base. I initially thought it was part of the design, but the texture feels different. In my opinion it is in the back of the vase and honestly does not distract from the artwork. Please see photos.
