    This  is a beautiful Hand Carved  Vintage Double Bird Comb or Pic from  the Gogo Tribal People of Tanzania. Such ornamented and figural combs are found throughout the African continent. They are made out of wood but also out of other materials. Small combs were used for decoration on elaborate hairstyles. Medium or large combs were used by men and women for untangling the hair. African combs of this type were used by high-ranking women in society to achieve the very elaborate and aesthetic hairstyles they wore.
