Here is a nice Antique Carved Wood Chest your buying consideration.  Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself!
Beautifully carved wood chest here.  Probably dates to the late 1800s.    There is a letter in the case from Chao-Ming Chen Antiques which was a shop in Baltimore, MD established in the 1920s that is no longer in business.  The letter was done sometime before 1947 when area codes for phone numbers started being used.
This fine Antique Wood Case is being offered to you at a price below what you would see in a fine gallery or auction house.   We can do that by being a dealer in such items for over 40 years, better controlling our acquisition costs, keeping commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don't have the overhead that fine galleries and auction houses have

Per the antique shop letter with the piece, the chest is Chinese and made of Camphor Wood.
Per this letter the wood relief on one side captures the story of Hsiu Wang Mu, the queen of the Western region.  Same story on the other side, just a different depiction.
On one of the narrow sides is the standing figure of a female.  The other side is an emissary from a foreign nation offering gifts.  The top has a carved wood handle of two squatting figures.  The carved wood handle is still securely attached to the case.  On both sides of the handle are depicted two other figures.  On the bottom side is the relief of two figures in conversation.
The chest is opened up on the narrow side where the female figure, just slides up.  With the side off.  A drawer can be pulled out that has 5 slots in it.  The slots carry to another piece that is fixed to the inside of the case.  A small piece is out of the bottom part of the narrow slide that is taken off to access the inside compartment.  Does not show when the slide is in place.
Some hairlines to the case from wood shrinkage from age, see pics.  No maker's mark on the wood case that we can ascertain.
