ORIGINAL AFRICAN
Traditional / Ceremonial
PERCUSSION INSTRUMENT
It measures about 12" long X 3-1/2" wide.
This
double-ended
"rattle" is made from a pair of Monkey Orange gourds that are joined together by a wooden stick.
Sound is created by loose stones within the hollow gourds, which are decorated with applied animal skins & burnt (branded) hash marks (see images).
An original type-written & illustrated descriptive detail tag remains attached (see image).
