Antique Chinese Red Lacquer Double Happiness Box

Description

19th Century hand painted Chinese lacquer bamboo box . Decorated in the style of the Shanxi province with flowers and double happiness symbol. Originally created to store hats - it is perfectly sized to store whatever treasure out of sight. Measures 12" diameter x 13.25" high. In very good antique condition. Paint/Lacquer has various marks and "dings" commensurate with antique age and years of use. Fitted lid top surface appears to have been refinished at some point. Overall structurally sound and quite sturdy. Bottom features a Chinese import wax stamp.
