Antique Lacquer Painted Chinese Wood Gift Presentation Box with Certificate.
This handsome Chinese box was made in the mid-19
th
century (dated 1850-1870).
It is made of Northern Elm wood (Yumu) and hand painted with a center relief carving of the traditional symbol for longevity.
It measures 15” x 15” X 7-1/2”.
It is in excellent antique condition with a crack in the lid and some scuffs. It comes with the Certificate of Antiquity from its purchase in 2004 from the Red Cabinet shop in Hong Kong, which includes a photograph of the box.
