HERE IS AN 8 1/2" X 11" TYPED PERSONAL LETTER, WRITTEN AND SIGNED BY C. M. NEWTON.
IT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, WITH LIGHT WEAR, AND IS WRITTEN ON VANDERBILT DEPARTMENT OF ATHLETICS STATIONARY.  LETTER IS DATED NOVEMBER 30, 1982.
C. M. NEWTON WAS THE HEAD MEN'S BASKETBALL COACH AT VANDERBILT FOR 8 YEARS--FROM 1981-1989.  HIS WON/LOSS RECORD WITH THE COMMODORES WAS 129-115.  PREVIOUSLY, COACH NEWTON WAS AT ALABAMA, WHERE HE WON/LOSS RECORD WITH 211-123 (12 YEARS-1968-1980).  HIS CAREER WON/LOSS RECORD WAS 340-238.   IN 2000, COACH NEWTON WAS INDUCTED INTO THE NAISMITH MEMORIAL BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME.
