Colorful Ancient Antique Cowboy Bucking Bronco Silk Scarf
25 x 25 inch
This is quite a beautiful, very old colorful antique silk scarf featuring a bronc rider with “all six feet off the ground” that was no doubt the prized possession of some rodeo or working cowboy a very long time ago.   It is made in the fashion of, and quite consistent with, very old Native American possessions from the early part of the 20th century, about 100 years ago.
The mostly sky blue silk scarf measures a large 25 x 25 inches square, has a 1-½ inch bright red silk border sewed on all four sides, with a 9 inch white circle in one corner that contains the image of a cowboy in chaps aboard a saddle bronc in the air, with his cowboy hat flying.  The picture is done in realistic tints of blue, maroon, red, brown and tan.
We suspect that the item might have been quite expensive in its day, and while it may have been purchased as a gift for a cowboy’s girl, the wear on the red trim looks more consistent with probably use by a cowboy himself.
We purchased this item from an antique dealer in cowboy country, right where we live - in the beautiful Black Hills of extreme southwestern South Dakota.  it would look beautiful framed and would be a center piece of interior decor in any western American home.  Have you ever seen one before?
Condition exactly as shown in our excellent photographs with a couple of small holes and some fraying to the red border material where it was once tied.
