The DW Design Series Frequent Flyer is a pro kit that travels easy. Though many portable sets can sound small in a band setting, the Frequent Flyer's narrow, full-sized shells pack the punch of a larger kit — especially under close mics. The secret is a combination of HVLT and HVX maple shells, engineered to bring out the attack and harmonics of the kick, toms, snare, and DW's own lightweight shell hardware, which reduces mass for a big tone. Many compact shell packs don't pack the impact we drummers crave — especially the kick drum. But the DW Frequent Flyer includes a 20" bass drum with a 12" shell depth. Despite its compact size, you get impressive punch and tone from the Design Series Frequent Flyer shell pack. The secret is DW's HVLT (kick, toms) and HVX (snare) shell constructions, which use multiple plies of maple arranged with alternating grain orientations. By alternating the direction of the wood grains, shells are more rigid, enhancing projection and attack.
Better tuning with DW's True-Pitch tension rods
You'll have more control over your tuning with DW's True-Pitch tuning rods. These tension screws have 20% more threads than do standard rods, for greater accuracy and control.
