    Description

    Excellent Karamojong headrest, late 19th to early 20th Century. Very nice symmetric and stylized form, and the ends carved like stylized hooves. Made in a special bent wood technique. Wonderful patina and has a depth to the wood that is fantastic.
    Provenance- Collected by African American Art Collector Richard Cooper through purchase in a gallery in New York in the late 1960s- was sold as 1890s, and the techniques used ceased around the 1920s. Sold on consignment by the Cooper Estate.
