Fate and Wate Vintage American Scale Manufacturing Co. Coin Sidewalk Scale

Cool vintage "Fate and Wate" scale. Not sure of its early life, but it has been on display as a conversation piece for the last few years inside our former antique shop. Customers loved the nostalgia of a scale like the ones they remembered from childhood. (We did, too!) Lots of fun--just drop a penny in and presto--your weight and a character reading ("fate") are displayed in the window! Scale works and the weight seems to be pretty accurate. The display window is cracked but the weight and character readings are visible. Slight adjustments/calibrations can probably be made, or can be enjoyed as is. One strip of decorative chrome is missing on the front and some of the red enamel on top is gone. The paint is discolored or faded in some areas.

Not sure of age, but old and very heavy.  Guessing 1950s (but could be 40s or 60s???) We are not experts, nor have we researched it. Platform says "American Scale Mfg.Co. Washington DC." The scale is approximately 50" tall, 17" wide, and 27" deep.
Overall, the scale is in good vintage condition, taking into account its age and normal usage. We actually hate to say good-by, but we have retired and the time has come.  No Key. As found, as is. Local pickup only, unless buyer wishes to make all shipping arrangements. Fun find for a business, cabin, man-cave...or your home! Great piece of history!
