Description
Vintage used African oil lamp, forged and riveted iron from an ethnographic collection. From Mali, West Africa made by tribal blacksmiths of the Bamana (Bambara) or closely related tribe. Tall 36" (91.3cm) as mounted on custom stand. Two tiers of 3 pots - these were made as burning lamps for oil with a floating wick. There is wax residue in some of the pots - candles have been used in place of oil. The surmounting figure is a Nommo or mythic ancestor, holds a spear about 9.2 cm. Brut power ritual African iron. The chain attached wick separators are about 10cm or 4 inches. Mailing box is 33"(84cm) x 20"(57cm) x 7"(18cm) and weighs 13.5lb (6.13kg) USPS post cost is near to U.S. & overseas. Will refund overpayment of mailing cost..Metal stand custom made long ago to hold artifact exhibits rust and scratches to painted surface.
