This drum set is very unique and there are not many opportunities to own this piece of drumming history. I am the original owner. The drums have barely been played on (less than 10 hours). Not a single scratch, dent, or scuff mark. The kit is in Mint condition. The other special characteristic of this drum set is Gretsch did not make many of them in the Motor City Blue color (my understanding is they produced around 300 or so in the entire world), which resembles the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air.
Drawing its inspiration from a 1975 Motor City classic cruiser, the Gretsch Renown 57 5-Piece Shell Pack with Throne puts you behind the wheel of some serious drumming mojo. This gorgeous 5-piece configuration consists of a 22" x 18" kick, 10" x 8" and 12" x 9" toms, 16" x 16" floor tom, and 14" x 6-1/2" matching snare.
The "hood ornament" is the Renown Chevron (like the 1957 Chevrolet), an aluminum triangular teardrop painted white with raised beveled chrome edges and embossed chrome Gretsch logo. Each drum has its own sized chevron, scaled to symmetrically fit that specific drum size. The eye-catching Motor City Blue is a traditional color derived from the 1950's car era.
To further distinguish this drum set design, Gretsch Drums partnered with Gibraltar Hardware to produce a matching throne that will be included free with this kit.
Renown's contemporary features make this a modern classic. Renown 57 includes standard Renown maple specifications to produce punchy, full tones and rock solid performance. Toms are mounted from the bass drum on a Gretsch ball-socket double tom holder. In addition, the snare drum is equipped with 20 total lugs (10 lugs per side).
The combination of the Motor City Blue and distinctive chevron design elements join with Renown's industry respected performance to produce a drum set that has an unmatched classic, contemporary and bold visual appearance.
