    Description

    Chinese porcelain shard precious objects wood box with pink peony. The importance of these shard boxes to the history of Chinese porcelain artistry has been lost in recent time.  During the Chinese Cultural Revolution, antique vases were systematically destroyed. People tried to save what was left of these works or art by gathering the broken vase shards and setting them into wood to preserve them.  This lovely, large example was purchased at an antique store in Beijing in 2005.  It is 7" wide x 9" long x 5" tall.  The interior is lined in red velvet.  Excellent antique condition.
