Large Vintage Paktong Ink Box Scholar Object. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
This is an extra large size ink box.  The shape is 8 sided - an octagonal box.  On the top is an engraving of five sages playing a game of "Go" under a pine tree.  The men seem to be playing under a flat slap of stone.  There is a small teapot and no cups.  The men are dressed like Chinese scholars.    There is an inscription of 4 characters which translate to
"Five Sages (old men) enjoying a game of Go."  The quality of paktong - an alloy of nickel, tin and lead is of good quality. The bottom pf the box is copper. Inside the box shows signs of ink but it is now empty.
