Old Chinese Box Wood And Pewter With Asian Boat Design

this is a neat old box. i'm not sure of the age, but the bottom is marked made in china, so it isn't older than that. i'm not sure what this was used for i thought a cigarette holder, but there is a mirror on the inside lid, so i really don't know. there is a latch on the front that may have had a lock, so it may have been for tea. the box is pewter and wood. the pewter looks to be hand tooled. there are some clouds with the moon, then in the center a chinese boat, and below that waves. overall condition is very good. i don't see any signatures on this item. there is dust inside the item. if i had to guess at an age i'd say 1940s - 1950s although it could be older than that. the only thing to not about condition is a little hole in the wood doesn't go through, and looking under the loupe it looks like someone was using a pick and it got away from them creating a hole, but who knows for sure. it's nothing bad. the box kind of looks like a little trunk with handles on the sides. size about 4.5 x 3.5 inches, and 2.25 inches tall.

I don't smoke or have any pets so there usually won't be those type of odors with the items i sell
