  • Condition: “This is a previously used Tama Superstar Kit from the 1970s/1980s. The drum set exhibits clear wear and multiple markings on the shells but the set is in good, working condition overall. The 12" Tom has suffered clear optical surface damage around the area where the snare-drum rim touched the tom (see last photo) Floor tom legs and tom holder are not original but fully functional. Tom holder (by Gibraltar) has smaller diameter than the original, but does the job just fine (see photo).

    Extremely Rare Vintage Tama Superstar Kit in
    Bebop Sizes
    from the 1980s !!
    1980s Tama Superstar 3 Piece Bebop Kit  - 18" BD / 14" Floor Tom / 12" Rack Tom - "Super Mahogany" Finish
    This is a previously used Tama Superstar Kit in extremely rare bebop sizes (18" BD's of this line are almost never to be found!). This drum set is Made in Japan from 6 ply 9mm shells of 100% Japanese Birch. Elvin Jones used to play this kit towards the end of career I believe.
    NOTE: The drum set exhibits scratches, dents and markings on the shells but the set is in good condition overall  (please see pictures). Most notably there is a damaged area on the 12" rack tom, caused over time by the tom touching the snare rim. The pictures give you a very good idea on the optical condition of the set, however not every single scratch or dent is documented in the pictures!
    So do not bid on this item if you are looking for flawless optics!
    Apart from the optical condition not being perfect, this is an amazing sounding vintage drum set which has the potential to become a collector's item! The built quality of this drum set is outstanding (made in Japan, Tama's top of the line drum set at the time) and can easily compete with the classic Vintage sets such as Slingerland or Gretsch!
    (Non-original) hardware parts include legs for the floor tom and a tom-holder (by Gibraltar). The bass drum legs are original, but instead of the shorter legs they are the longer version (not visible inside bass drum). Heads are used in good condition.
