Description
Thank you for viewing my auction! This auction is for a
LOT
of 4 promotional items for The Beatles album release of ‘Anthology 2’ in 1996.
This
LOT
consists of 3 flat cardboard cards that would stand behind a row of the Anthology 2 CD’s in music stores, promoting both the CD and a special free giveaway magazine of The Beatles.
Retailers have referred to these cards as “slats” and “backers”, but for this auction I will refer to them as simply “cards”.
The 4
th
item is a flat cardboard green Apple that had a Styrofoam adhesive that would hold the Apple to a wall, window, or the front of a cashiers counter. The adhesive has since decayed and the Styrofoam will no longer stick to the Apple, but is included in this auction since it is a piece of the Apple display.
Each cardboard card measure 9.5” x 6” flat. The green Apple measures 7” wide from rounded side to side, and 6.5” in height from the top of the stem to the rounded bottom of the apple. The Styrofoam that was on the backside of the Apple measures 1” square.
On the top left corner of each card, there is a slight bend that measures approximately 0.25” in size, too small for a photo to show. On the backside of 2 of the cards, there are slight markings like as if something had rubbed against them at one time, possibly during shipping (see photos). The 3
rd
card has a clean backside. All 3 have slightly yellowed by age. As for the Apple, there is a crease at the bottom of the stem where it had been bent either forward or backwards at one time. There is also a nick at the bottom center that is also 0.25” in size. Across the center of the Apple, there is a crease that runs side to side through the word “on”. This is barely noticeable on the front, but definitely can be seen on the back. (See photos). The backside of the Apple shows some rubbing marks and other unknown light stains; the dried adhesive that held the Styrofoam to the Apple can be seen as well. The Apples backside has also slightly yellowed from age. The Styrofoam square shows dried residue where it was once attached to the Apple. The Styrofoam has also slightly yellowed from age.
You make think it is silly of me to post photos of each card front since they are all the same and no damage corners could be seen anyway, but I feel I show potential buyers exactly what they would get prior to purchasing it.
I am selling my complete collection of everything Beatles and each member’s solo projects. Add me to your list to stay informed. I add listings weekly.
