James Melville Babington KCB, KCMG, DL (31 July 1854 – 15 June 1936) was a British Army officer and a renowned leader of cavalry, making a name for himself for his actions in the Second Boer War. He was Commander of the New Zealand Defence Force and one of the most respected British generals in the First World War.
He’s mostly known today as the image of Sergeant Pepper from the Beatles Sergeant peppers lonely hearts club band.
