Vintage 1976 ADINKRA SYMBOL HAND CARVED LIGHTWEIGHT PALM WOOD (OR MAYBE BAMBOO) STAMP
    This symbol:
    Gye Nyame
, meaning “except for God,” symbolizes God's omnipotence through the knowledge that people should not fear anything except for God.
Hand carved by a tribal village artisan in GHANA, AFRICA in 1976.
    Made of lightweight wood.
    Size: 2"×2-1/4"×3/8" inches.
Has an intended slight curve to it.
The two small holes in the back are for small sticks to be placed so, when used, you push down with the sticks onto whatever surface you intend to imprint the stamp on.
Has always been in an odor-free and smoke-free environment.
Acquired this in the summer of 1976 during a trip to the UK and a lengthy stay in Africa as a young boy.
It has been in climate controlled dark storage facility for 45 years.
    Ships free domestically via USPS.
    ABOUT ADINKRA SYMBOLS:
Adinkra are visual symbols, originally created by the Ashanti people of Ghana, that represent concepts or aphorisms. They are extensively used in fabrics and pottery and also incorporated into walls and other architectural features. Adinkra symbols do not only have a decorative function but also represent objects that express evocative messages that convey traditional wisdom, aspects of life or the environment.
