Contents:
John M. Springer (1873-1963), was a pioneering Methodist missionary and bishop, who was instrumental in developing Methodism in Africa.
From 1901 to 1906 he was a pastor and the superintendent of the Old Umtali Industrial Mission in Rhodesia. During 1907 he and his wife journeyed across the continent of Africa. His first furlough was taken from 1907-1909, and when he returned to Africa in 1910, he was stationed in the Lunda country of Angola and Congo. Between 1910 and 1915.  Springer had various appointments: Kalalua in North Western Rhodesia ( 1910-1911); Lukoshi in Belgian Congo (1911-1913); and Kambove (1913- 1915). A second furlough, taken in 1915, lasted until 1916.
Includes the Congo, languages, floods, fevers, witchcraft, religion, and much more! Quite a detailed look at the life of the natives 100 years ago! I have given you some pictures of text pages down below. I do believe Livingstone and Stanley are also mentioned here & there. I put it under "
Exploration & Travel" because it has a lot to do with the natives and area they were living in

-all of my books are VERY OLD and have wear. I try to explain the worse, but I am human and sometimes I do miss a thing or 2.

two small rips, spots to the covers and spine [zoom in - they are mostly light], back cover looks better than the front, light wear to the tips, and pen name & #s to the back paste-down as well as a strip of very thin cardboard [ or thick paper] ,
library sticker on the front paste-down,
no plates or pages were stamped, not even the title page. Some light spotting, mostly to the textblock edges - pages generally clean, with only a few being heavily spotted. Frontis is missing. Title page taped [ back side] and starting to pull away [ripped at gutter]. One signature [section of the book] slightly sticking out. Text and board very secure.
Very light musty smell [ read below].

and remember
-this book is very old and may have accumulated bad smells along the way [musty basement/ mildew/ smoke] - I have found that
dryer sheets in them for a few months makes a world of difference!
some of my books get sold right away so please consider using this trick before deciding to return it!  As far as I can tell -this book has a very light musty smell
